The village information boards (see below) are situated near the Village Hall and Hall Mead.
A few years ago a survey conducted by Suffolk Acre concluded that there was a need for some affordable houses for local people or people with local connections who wanted to move back into Lawshall. The outcome of this survey was that a new estate was created, called Ancells Close, and this includes some affordable houses. The development was finished by June 2008 and the residents moved in.
In May 2008 Lawshall entered the Village of the Year Awards for the first time. Nine other villages also entered, some larger than Lawshall. Judging took place in June and Lawshall came 4th with 349 points. Cockfield were the winners with 364 points. In August we received a letter informing us that the overall impression of the village was generally a very good one and the village was highly commended. The judging panel have agreed that a Highly Commended certificate should be awarded to Lawshall and Brantham (they came 5th with 342 points.)
